Jamie Zed is the pseudonym of Jamal
Zulfiqar, a British Pakistani
singer/songwriter and actor.
Born in Lahore, Pakistan, Jamie Zed moved to England at the age of 5, where he grew up in Watford (Hertfordshire).
Jamie Zed was passionate about music from a young age and grew up listening to 90s
RnB, HipHop, and UK Garage. Through his parents he was introduced to diverse genres such as Classical, Folk and Qawaali music alongside popular music from Britain
and South Asia from the 60s, 70s and 80s.
On August 7th, 2020 Jamie Zed released his debut single Nimbu Pani. The track references his diverse musical influences, combining a heavy bassline with a distinct vocal sound inspired by RnB and Alaap (a vocal style prevalent in South Asia). His second single Better was released on 23rd April and continues to explore his influences with a radio-friendly up-tempo sound.
