XAMAN X

XAMAN X have journeyed through the astral plane and the cosmos to find you on the dancefloor and heal your cumbia-thirsty soul!

Xaman X is a four-piece band of international aliens: Pablo aka Panther Panther! provides both rhythm and synthetic sounds to Susana Gutarra’s acoustic arrangements, whilst Afon Sistema’s Jackson builds up the beats through majestic percussion, and Marta Zu’s wild antics on the mic lift the whole thing into orbit and beyond.

Originally formed in 2018 as a support band for the international artists playing at Bristol’s only dedicated Tropical Bass night, Midnight Ritua, “Xaman X” have grown into a wonderfully colourful beast over the past year.

Combining live electronics with traditional Latin American instrumentation and outstanding percussion, they ride the thin line between old and new, grounded and psychedelic, spiritual and kitsch. Their improvised sets are ritualistic music for a post-modern era, where bamboo marimbas and charangos glide effortlessly over synthetic sounds and otherworldly UFO howls, where the Colombian flute calling dances with bells, tamboras, congas and 808 kicks, supporting the beautiful voice and powerful bars of our other-worldly front-woman.

Xaman X will keep your soul moving on this sonic rocket into outer space with the power of a deep bass super nova!

A remix by Village Cuts of their first single “Hoy”, featured in Movimiento’s compilation “Sanctuary” early this year to greatly acclaim in the tropical bass scene.

Stay tuned for the band’s debut EP out soon!
